Manifold/Header recommendations?

My mechanic just told me that I need a new manifold on my '68 2000 Solex.
He said the existing one is full of holes and thin in places. He doesn't
think it can be welded. So, what are my choices now? How hard are they to
find, and once found, how hard are they to install?

He described what I need as a "header," but what I think he means is the
stock manifold. Is Solex different from SU? This sounds expensive.
