Hello gents,
Rick, a fellow roadster friend is having troubles with his horn after
trying to adapt a momo hub. He claims that upon trying to slide the adapter on
it sounds the horn immediately. I think his copper ring is either not insulated
from the hub or that the copper tab on the steering side is touching a ground
on the hub. He can use your help. The following is what he wrote me:
Hey tom i dont know....i have nothing plugged in...i
didnt even mount the wheel onto the hub yet...i just slid the hub onto the
splines and the horn automatically turns on??!! This morning before i left for
work i remembered that i had tapped a ground at the Horn fuse in the glove box
for my head unit a while back when i installed it.....could this be the
culprit??? As of now all i know is that the hub has this copper ring in the
back and everytime it touches the tab thats part of the
steering column it activates the horn....so to make things simple, as soon as
the hub goes on the steering column/splines....the horn goes on! I
reinstalled the stock wheel and it doesnt do this....there must be something
wrong or reversed...the hub i bought was from Fairlady products its a billet
hub that they made a few for the roadster.....im not sure if they designed it
for the earlier cars and therefore maybe not work with our year roadster??
