I sort of screwed up with my little tale of installing the vent gaskets. I
didn't realise that it would have been so easy just to bend the plates a
tad, install the gasket and then bend them back. The tight fit of the
originals was due to the way that they were assembled by the factory - fit
gasket, line up spindle and then rivet. Obviously the rubber would be
compressed.
So I caused a certain amount of confusion and spent a lot of time for
nothing, (though they do look neat, if one were to bother to look at them)
Mea Culpa again.
