Hardy, my axle failed within the hub, at the deep end of the keyway at
the stake marks.  I understand John Harkness's failure was about 1/2" to
1" inboard of the inner edge of the hub.  Both were immediate wheel loss
situations.  The other failure this year was on George Wright's TR4 and
his axle broke at the largest diameter inboard of the hub and bearing.
He did not loose the wheel.
