Hi Friends

Julia and I had a 'barby' yesterday and among the gathering was my old pal
Tom who brought his fiancée 'Mary Harrison' with him - who I'd never met.
It turned out that Mary knew my wife Julia from 25 years back. Anyway, as
usual, a few of us got chatting about motor racing and classic cars and
Mary became interested and mentioned that her father was in the motor
industry. It turned out that Mary's maiden name was 'Harrington'. She is
the daughter of the late Gordon Harrington owner of the famous Harrington
Coachbuilding Company. FOters will know that the Harrington Company
designed the 'Harrington' hard top and GT conversions for Alpines etc.,
and the GTR4 Dove conversion produced by Dove's of Wimbledon (there were
only about 46 produced). Mary only lives about ten miles from me and she's
still got some photos of Harrington conversions and her father's old
company which I'm going to see this week.

Mary also informed me that her father's company produced the cockpit covers
for our Spitfire fighter planes during the war.

- To cap it all I received my copy of the 'Bluebonnet,' the Texas Triumph
Register newsletter, only last Friday. In the adds section there is a 1964
GTR4 Dove for sale in the States. It has been completely restored with help
from the ex Foreman of the Harrington Coachbuilding Company and was a VTR
Regionals award winner. The car was also voted best in show at the
Harrington's Centenery gathering in 1997. The owner wants offers over
$20.000. The phone number for anyone interested in buying the car is 713
466 6019 or >dif777@pdq.net<

Best wishes

Paul
