The pressure is getting to me, so here's some news of general interest:

California track to add permanent road course

FONTANA, Calif. (AP) _ California Speedway has broken ground on a
permanent road course in an effort to increase the number of races at the
track.

The course, scheduled to be completed in early fall, has three
configurations: an infield road course, which can be 1.5 miles or 1.55
miles; an auto competition course, which uses part of the oval at 2.88
miles; and a motorcycle competition course, which also uses part of the oval
at 2.36 miles.

Currently, the speedway hosts two major races, the NASCAR Winston Cup in
the spring and the Busch Series and CART FedEx championship series and
NASCAR Craftsman Truck series in the fall.

Meanwhile, the speedway and NHRA officials announced plans to build a
quarter-mile drag strip to host the NHRA's street legal racing.

The strip, designed for street cars to race in a controlled environment,
will be located on the south side of the speedway in a parking lot behind
the main grandstands. A concrete launch pad will be built in the lot, along
with a temporary starting stand and timing system.

The first weekend of racing is scheduled for Sept. 8-9. The track plans
to host additional weekends on Sept. 22-23 and Oct. 6-7. Winter and summer
racing schedules also are planned.
