So, besides a heftier solution to the GT6 rear end, what would I like to
see from a machine shop? 

You want the short list or the long one?

        Al hubs for the front of the Spit & GT6
        Adapter plates, 6 cyl to some 'real' transmission
        TR6 trailing arm assy that won't loose hubs after some weenie tightens
down the nuts too tight
        rebuild able rear hubs (lighter too!)
        CV joint replacement for the half shafts and u-joints for TR6
        externally adjustable valving for lever shocks
