I bought a new Smiths impulse tach for the Lotus 7 I used to have.  I can
tell you from experiance that playing around with the polaraty on the coil
to see what works best will fry your tach.  However Nisonger in New York
will fix it for about $100 :-)

Unfortunately all that stuffs gone, but I think mine had the wiring diagram
on the back of the gauge.
