Amici,

My rocker shaft has failed.

It was an original British Leyland new part back in 1986, and I had original
rocker arms bushed with oilite phosphor bronze.

The bronze bushes have worn to excess and the shaft is deeply grooved.

There was no failure of oil supply to the head, and the engine has about 10,000
miles on it.

I don't know if the bronze bushes were too soft, or the rocker shaft itself was
too soft.

I will be having the shaft tested for hardness idc.

I have temporarily fitted a stock GT6-3 shaft and rockers.

I have in stock a set of roller rockers and chrome moly pushrods from Ted
Schumacher which I intended to fit when time permitted.

I am now seeking advice as to where to source a really good quality rocker
shaft, which has been correctly heat treated, and would be most grateful for
all and any input on that matter.

My car has a 1971 Triumph Vitesse 2 Litre Mk.2 engine, (same as 1971 GT6+)

I believe that the part number is 144962 but do not have access to my parts
manuals at this time.

Kind Regards

Lion F Guyot
