I would like to share the results of my little questionnaire.

There were 21 responses. Some responses represented more than one car.
Some responses were from people with cars that are being built as we
speak. In short, the statistics I provide below will not add up to 21
for various reasons.

_______________________________________________

Type of Sump Used:

16 engines used stock covers.
6 engines used Aluminum or other type of After market Cover.

_______________________________________________

Did they use safety wire on the sump?

4 people said yes.
17 people said no.
_______________________________________________

Notes:

6 people mentioned that they also added baffles.

1 person mentioned loctite instead of safety wire.

2 people seemed to be almost shocked at the very idea of safety wiring
the sump bolts almost to the point of making me feel under attack for
even suggesting the idea!

3 of the people that don't safety wire mentioned that they never lost a
bolt.

Most that used safety wire had a non-stock cover.

I wondered why there were only 21 guys with an opinion to share.

Thank you to all that replied. The sump gasket that I am developing
will require safety wiring. I wanted to get a feeling for how often
this was done with a stock cover. How familiar racers might be with
wiring these bolts. How many racers might already have their bolts
drilled. Etc. It was helpful to see your responses.

Field testing continues. I'll keep you informed. Thanks again.
