Not sure if it is the case in your situation, but I have seen setups like
that where the pin is either a drive-thru (holes on both sides) or a spring
thingy (push it in a bit farther and the body slips out -- the hole thru
which you can see it is not as big as the pin).
Before drilling them, try just pushing them. If it has been in there a few
decades, you might need a more forceful tool (and a squirt of WD-40) to make
it move.
