FWIW, running a national VTR event is enough of an undertaking that adding
any complication to it is asking too much, IMHO. However, if a VTR Chapter
that undertook a national event could plan it around an existing vintage
event nearby then VTR could tack on a Wednesday or Thursday track day for
the racers (who most likely will then stay and run the vintage event) and
then use the rest of the weekend as normal, I think they would find success.
Additionally, this would allow the VTR group to get corner workers, EMS etc.
for the event without scrambling since all tracks or vintage orgs. are
already set up.

The impetus for me to start vintage racing was the wicked spin I put myself
into trying to move from 3rd place to first on my 3rd run in the autocross
at the VTR National in Savannah in my daily driver TR6. Just getting on the
track, at speed was enough, and of course, we were able to speed back to the
pits on the unused portion of the course. Without that VTR event, with the
autocross on the track, racing might still be a dream for me. I would think
that a combined VTR national with an FOT all Triumph raceday would pull a
few more guys...
