Have used the MSD 6AL (multi-spark electronic ignition plus built-in rev
limiter that works with both breakerless and points distributors) for over 15
years in a half dozen different race cars with great success. Easy to install
and
bullet proof. In all that time, I have had only one problem when a plug-in rev
chip failed during a race. If you mount the unit in the cockpit within arms
reach you can remove the rev chip by hand while driving, if it ever starts
acting up.
If you just want the rev limiter, the soft Touch Rev Control (PN 8728) would
be the choice. MSD makes a version for both points ignition and electronic.
Watch Pro Drag Racing on TV and you'll never see anything but MSD ignition
products hanging off the motors. There's a reason for that.
