For what it's worth, remain very cautious Bob. One of the characteristics of
scams is that the negotiations go on for a very long time. For some reason
there are a flood of scams in the horse market these days. Probably in cars
too. It always seems that there's no way they would go to all this trouble
for a scam, but the practitioners have dozens of them running at once. The
problem is NOT that you will lose your car somehow, it's that you'll get
taken on the financial transaction. 

There are simple escrow services you can use to ensure the money changes
hands properly. Escrow.com is a good one that I have used. Don't take money
orders and assume they are good until your bank clears them completely. Many
are forged these days.
