There were two different bearings used for TR6, the early bearing had the outer
race incorporated while the later bearing ran directly against 4th gear (the
input shaft).  The early bearing was a light press fit and a PITA to remove ...
perhaps the outer race is still inside the shaft ?

I assume you know that the front cover needs to match the clutch ... TR6 front
cover is shorter than the TR3.
