Kas,
I was just picking on the little rectangular cars and their cousins with
the lamps popping from their bonnets. RMVR allows any of their engines to
be replaced with a 1275cc with up to 0.40" overbore. They also permit any
pair of SU or Stromberg CD to be replaced with a single Weber DCOE or
equivalent. The carb substitution was caused by folks who convinced the
board SU's could not be made serviceable due to lack of parts
availability. Originally there were limitations, such as 40mm DCOE choked
to no larger than original throttle bore. A few years later and they had
hammered that all away. Now, fit as much carb as you can get to run, cam
it and port it to take advantage of increased capabilities.

There have been Frog Eye Sprites show up with a big H/P on their sides,
sporting 1310cc and 45 DCOE.

Local engine builders claim they can make the same power with either set
up, but none will prove it. Have spoken to car owners who admit their
engine has a very definite RPM limit with stock carbs but continues on up
through the range with the 45mm throttle plates and 38mm Venturis. But he
could see NO advantage in being able to get more RPM.

Hard to fit a single DCOE to a GT-6. Application to fit a pair of DCOE's
to a TR-4, using only one throat per carb was soundly rejected.

But I bitch.
And it does me no good,
Bill
