All,

The number of blades on the impellor is largely irrelevant given
the poor castings of the blade. All those imperfections on the blades
leads to cavitation, and I suggest this to be the largest problem
contributing to inefficient pumps.

I removed the stock impellor and spent some time filing and sanding
all the rough edges off the casting. Since doing this about 10 years
ago, the only time my e-fan is needed is when I delibrately idle the
motor in 90+ weather for more than 15 mins. Otherwise the temp.
needle seems stuck when the thermostat opens.
