I built a simple pull tester using a PVC piping reducer screws to a pice of 
wood with a central hole in the wood.  I hold the assembly in a vice with 
the wood in the jaws of the vice. Then I used a fish scale to test the pull 
force to the specs suggested.  -Even with new springs, they may be too 
stiff, in which case, they need to be shortened.  Or they may be too weak 
and need to be pulled longer till you get the correct pull force on the fish 
scale.
