The answer is titanium. the valve keys in alloy valve spring  
retainers creep downwards. I pack my valve springs to .060" (the  
springs bind when a .060 feeler gauge is inserted) and have seen as  
much as .100 of creep after the first race--less after that but they  
keep moving. And I don't use particularly strong seat pressure. I  
don't remember what it is, but it's not high compared to some racers  
I know, probably less than 200#, Bob Yarwood talked me into that and  
it's worked fine.

I replaced my alloy retainers with titanium, and no creep. At all.  
One brief sting to the wallet and you never have to worry about them  
again. No I don't know where they came from, Yarwood found them for  
me. I miss that old fart.
