Hi,

I admit that I might be biased since I do write software for ChaseCam,
but I think their solution is very good. I have used a bunch of
different cameras over the years, including camcorder, gopros, oregon
scientifics etc, but here is the things I like about using a ChaseCam
PDR:

1) It is powered from the car. Batteries are a pain, and there is
enough to think about at a race, that I would often forget to charge
the batteries.
2) The ChaseCam auto starts recording, when you start moving - it's
really neat. One real problem with the gopro and camcorders is if you
forget to start it, you may not be able to reach it once you are
buckled in. Also it is hard to tell if it is recording or not.
3) The camera is separate from the mic, which keeps the mic out of the
wind. It sounds like it is better with the new gopro, but the old one
was horrible with wind noise.
4) The unit is extremely rugged.
5) You can add a data module (at a pretty good price)which allows you
to overlay data, and also do sophisticated data analysis, using rpm,
gps position and speed, other sensors. I think the package of chasecam
video and data is pretty neat, and a great tool for improving your
driving.
6) The video quality is awesome.

There are other things too, but these are the main points. If you have
any questions about ChaseCam or the data module, let me know.

have (2) dedicated video setups for both interests?
