Several regional Transit /Bus operators clean coolers (transmission  
and oil) using immersion in an ultrasonic tank while flushing filtered  
cleaning solution through. This is the only method I would rely on for  
routine cleaning. But after a grenaded engine, it's best to just get a  
new cooler.
