I would say this spot is a dangerous area.
If any welding is done it might not help and the whole deck could collapse
and would ruin your whole engine.
If it were me I would move on to a new head.

I found the source of my "head gasket" leaks - a cracked head.  It's
cracked around the inner circumference of where it meets the liner in
#4 cylinder.

Is this something that can be fixed, or should I start brushing up on
my head porting techniques and build another head?
