reduction starter for longer duration, if they have had any problems =
such as wear on the flywheel gear teeth.

I've had a gear reduction starter on my Healey for 3 yrs. No issues. =
Turns the motor over much faster. I love it.

Could someone please enlighten me as to the benefits/reasons of using a =
gear reduction starter that so many AH owners rave about ?

Surely a starter is digital - it either turns the engine over or it =
doesn't ?

Our standard starters are series dc motors that have increased torque =
(more amps) whenever the motor starts to stall.

So lots of amps required and this is why battery terminal condition and =
good grounds are so important.

So is the reduction starter a smaller, faster shunt motor with =
mechanical gearing to increase the torque ?

Probably lighter too ?

Just wondering ....
