Sorry John and Michael =E2=80=93 didn=E2=80=99t post this to Simon or the l=

Simon =E2=80=93 I fully agree.  I didn=E2=80=99t want to risk complicating =
your life by suggesting this earlier. Now that that has been done ---------=
!

My tri-carb =E2=80=93 so close to yours in car number =E2=80=93 has been we=
eping a bit of oil in sympathy with your overdrive ordeal. Mine got a BJ8 =
clutch 20 plus years ago =E2=80=93 an excellent upgrade. Many others here =
have done the same upgrade and all would agree. Now =E2=80=93 when you hav=
e the whole mess apart anyway =E2=80=93 would be the time to do it. As Joh=
n says, if you can=E2=80=99t find a BJ8 flywheel (a direct replacement), an=
y competent automotive machine shop can modify your existing one (different=
 mounting bolt size and circle, different locating dowel positions and numb=
er).

If you decide to do it, I=E2=80=99m sorry to add to your task.

Cheers anyway  ---

I'll second what John says. I put a BJ8 clutch in my 100 and it is lighter =
and easier to engage than the spring clutch.

Simon, when doing the clutch replace everything with the BJ8 kit. This is a=

To, hopefully, bring you up to date and hopefully put this thing to bed=E2=
=80=A6=E2=80=A6

I took the overdrive up to OD Spares and explained what was going on. They =
stripped it down and discovered:-

        The pump plunger wouldn=E2=80=99t go all the way up because the cas=
ing was =E2=80=9Cb*gg***d. At some stage it had been scored and then repair=
ed with something like JB Weld.

Plastic Padding or Plastic Metal are our equivalents. I suspect OD Spares h=
ad done it when they rebuilt the servo back in +/- =E2=80=9904. They seemed=
 very knowledgeable about the stuff, saying it =E2=80=9Ctakes 24 hours to g=
o off=E2=80=9D. Plastic Metal goes off as soon as you turn your back on it.=
 Anyhow, they put in a brand new front casing and a new clutch. Tested, the=
 OD ran at 500psi++.

While they were doing that, 08:30 to 12:30, I was able to go to AH Spares a=
nd get a clutch kit and various other bits. First time there. Bit surprised=
 by the member of staff who said =E2=80=9CWe=E2=80=99re not mechanics. We j=
ust sell this stuff=E2=80=9D. So, the clutch will be the next discussion=E2=
=80=A6..
