Hello Group,

As all of you know the World of Speed Meet was canceled. Unfortunately
for me, I worked 'til 9:30 PM Sunday getting the car on the trailer and
the truck loaded so I could get an early start Monday. It worked. We
left Redding at 6:45 AM for the Salt. We had a good trip. A little less
than eleven hours later we were about 10 miles outside Wendover and
decided to call our shop in Redding and let them know we had arrived
safely. It was then that we found the meet had been canceled. I was
shocked! The weather reports had not indicated anything negative
information.

When we got settled at the Stateline I called Mary West to confirm the
information. She told me that the streamliner from Lincoln NE was
already there, I saw a Corvette (#83), from Oregon or Washington, and a
Street Roadster from Ohio in the Stateline parking lot. When I
considered the distance these cars had come, my plight seemed to be
minimal.

There are some positive things that came out of this though. (1) At
least we were not unloaded in the pits when the rains came, that has
happened in the past. (2) When I got home there was not salt to clean
off the equipment. (3) The car isn't broke. (4) My hotel bill was only
$27.95.

We will likely go to the October El Mirage Meet October 10 and
definitely will put in my entry for the World Finals and hope for dry
salt.

Those of you going to Maxton, Good Luck!

Tom
