I liked the Lotus 907 as a "G" motor when I had one in my roadster. All 
Aluminum with drop in wet sleeves 4 valves. Large bore short stroke for a 2 
liter. bigger ports and valves than most motors of this size. You should be 
able to find a junk Jensen-Healy motor for under $300 and maybe the 4 or 5 
speed too. Full girdle from the factory lots of finned aluminum (got to make 
it faster). Mine sounded neat over 8000.  Rich Fox
