I guess that I didn't use my words right again. Sorry.

What I meant by "sort of goes along with tuning" is that I think knowing
how to tune an engine without the benefit of computers is as important as
knowing how to drive a car in marginal traction conditions without the
benefit of traction control. It doesn't matter if it is on salt, dirt,
concrete, mud , snow or anything else. 
We all have seen drivers who can't feel when to feather the throttle spin a
car that didn't need to be spun.
 I don't believe that traction control should be used in lieu of driver
experience/knowledge. Even though it could be considered a significant
safety factor.
I haven't driven at El Mirage, Muroc or Maxton so I don't know about them
but the salt is about as slippery as smoking the tires all the way down a
drag strip in earlier years. Either one needs a driver who knows when to
get out of the throttle before the car gets too far out of shape.

BTW the rest of my note (I hope) indicated that I want traction control on
my deal but it is not allowed........so be it. But if things were to change
and computers were allowed for all these things, it would sure make it
easier (and maybe safer) to go fast, huh? And the know-how gained from
racing before computers might give the tuner and driver an edge. So it all
has its place. The trick is to combine it all and get after it!

I hope this is clearer. What are your thoughts on the subject?
