The existing K class records are pretty quick, I don't think my 250 would be
very competitive in the 500 cc class. Is anyone else out there thinking
about building a 250 for special construction cars?
I suspect not, so mabey I will just dump one of the wheels and call it a
motorcycle with sidecar ! ...seriously! The small displacement classes
already exist there. I had never studied the motorcycle classes before and
found myself unable to interpret the intent of several rules.
Fossil fuels such as CNG or propane that do not contain oxygen are run in
the Gas classes for the four wheelers, but are not listed as legal fuels for
the Gas or Fuel classes of motorcycles, is that intentional, I was planning
on using CNG .
Does the requirement for cross-ventilation of the front wheel apply to
streamliners ?
Does the requirement for automatic deployment of the chute when laid-over 50
degrees apply to side-cars ?
The photo of a representative side-car in my old 98 rule book shows a
side-car comprised of a covered wheel, no seat, or place for one. But
section E 11 describes the requirement for demonstration that the sidecar
can be ridden safely. How is that rule interpreted ?
In the special construction category there is a description of vehicles with
three wheels with both rear wheels driven by a common live axle. But the
definition of a side car specifies that only a single wheel is driven and
the vehicle leaves only two tracks. So if I use a live axle to drive two
wheels my vehicle is not a sidecar even if the axle is offset so that the
vehicle leaves only two tracks and the outboard driven wheel is in a
separate enclosure ??? Is it then just a streamliner that happens to have an
outrigger?
