Yep, at one time oil was thought to be a product of all them creatures
dying and donating their fat cells. I think the "fossil fuel" really now
refers to coal and not petroleum. I suspect that petroleum really came from
the initial formation of the planet. Methane, etc lots of
lightning...fossil, now because it is really really old. And yes, when the
lube runs out the spin will stop and we will all be flung off the planet
tangentially....
