302 GMC

Hello,
 I'm thinking about acquiring a couple of 302 GMC engines to run in my
streamliner at Bonneville. (not both at once).  Is this a bad idea? I know
nothing about these including bad characteristics or parts availability.
 What should I expect to pay for a basically complete engine?  I'm just
thinking and maybe planning for the future. I also posted this on the
message board without thinking that this way might be better. Any comments
would be appreciated.
