I too am more than willing to kick in an extre $50 or so to maintain the
Muroc event. This event celebrates the roots of land speed & drag racing,
and if for no other reason, should be retained for that purpose. It's also
an example of a racing venue lost once, and reclaimed, even if only for one
week-end a year. While nobody has a crystal ball, one thing is certain: when
it comes to dealing with the Military - nothing remains constant. Hopefully,
more friendly times will come. I also sense that the manpower issue is a
major concern. I wish I could offer a solution there. While it's a nasty,
dusty place to race, it must be worse to work it. (maybe it could be run
when it's cooler?) At any rate, I hope the members decide that while it is
an effort, it is an effort worth undertaking. If Muroc is lost again, I
think it would be very hard to get it back later.
