There are Bonneville National records, FIA, & FIM. Records set during speed
week and at the USFRA world of speed are BNI National records. At the BNI
World finals when the salt is available to use, Records can be set in all
categories. SCTA/BNI provides the sanction of international records with the
proper stewards from both of the bodies. All of the standard surveying and
certification of the timers are provided to the stewards for assuring that we
meet the criteria.

It takes hundreds of hours and lots of personnel to put on this meet each
October. There are other private sessions run at other times with only a few
vehicles or one in some cases. This is very costly and not done often. SCTA
/BNI have not conducted private time due to the time required to run the
event. As all of our personnel are volunteers and unable to get the extra time
off plus the expenses and travel time to the location selected to conduct the
attempts for a record.

As far as people being in the Bonneville 200 mph club there are a few that set
records elsewhere and SCTA/BNI recognizes them and has given them an honorary
place on the list. A.J.Foyt on a closed course, Andy Green, Richard Noble and
a few more. They are listed in the Bonneville Program.

The main thing is to achieve ones personal goal however or wherever he
chooses. In any case if you have suceeded then more power to you. I see many
attempts every year and also see feeling of achievement and loss. It's not an
easy sport and anyone that has done in on their own or with mega dollars
behind them know how easy one can be defeated in their efforts. Speed costs
money, How fast do you want to go. This does not always prove to work either.
