You must look deeper into the records than just the speeds. On the surface
you would think that all modified roadsters are in fact pointy nosed '27s.

Not true, mi amigo! A certain portion of the modified records were set with
a regular highboy with a modicum of streamlining added to the nose. Some
records (B class) are not up to the true potential of the class since the
class break at 440 chi. Fuel records can be set using gasoline, just don't
claim gas class. Since the blown/unblown break some classes have not been
competed in. A record set on an open at Speedweek may not be to the
potential of the class either, re: XF/BFMR - 78 mph at Speedweek 2000.

What's it all mean - there are many more variables to take into account when
comparing apples and oranges.

The bottom line? Yes, pointy noses are better than flat noses - but we all
race for personal satisfaction.
