Bill,
I had to make some special length studs for a Jaguar XK 150 engine in a car
I was restoring about ten years ago and I found that a place in Tucson
called Copper State Nut & Bolt had threaded grade 8 rod. I used that and as
far as I know it has not been a problem. The Owner drives the car
occasionally and I have done two more cars for him and he has not said a
word. Maybe that would work.
