Hi all,
Had a humbling day in the shop today. Contrary to my success with the
firewalls last week, today I ran out of mistakes to make while fish mouthing
roll bar tubing. Made em too short, made the angle backwards, even made one
with the two hole saw cuts at right angles to one another. The hole saw I am
using is too short to go all the way through so I have to flip tube over to
finish the cut. No I don't want to buy a new hole saw this one is doing
spectacularly, about fifteen joints on .120 wall DOM mild steel and it is
still cutting like new. Anyway I was cutting a 31 degree angle and when I
flipped the setup over in the drill press I forgot to change from uphill to
downhill. Screwiest looking thing you ever saw, I will have to keep it to
remind me when I think I can do no wrong.
Keith, one of the best things in the NHRA museum is the enlarged
photograph of the crew working on the Warren, Colburn and Miller car in a
regular one car garage while its raining. The good old days before mobile
machine shops and five spare engines..
