Keith is right! When we ran a front engine fuel dragster you couldn't see
straight ahead past the hardware on top of the engine. At night with the
flames coming up from the zoomies it made things even more interesting. You
just adapt, you look ahead as far as you can and it's no problem.

John Backus- and yes, I'd give anything to sit in Jacks car...... especially
at 300+ !!!

Forward Visability is Vastly over rated.... what are you guys looking for?

Y'all need to sit in a Tail dragger aircraft like the Apache or an old Bi
plane.... or better yet fly at night with one eye looking thru a green and
white lens which is 10' in front of you and 3' below you....

To say I am comfortable with limited visablity is an understatement... You
have to plan ahead.... it's fine..

Secondly and most important you shouldn't be looking directly in front of
you any way..... it's the exact WRONG thing to do..... The closer in you
are focusing the more your going to see the motion of the vehicle and the
more apt you are to correct for little movements.... you need to be
concentrating down course to where your going ..... what are the obstacles
in your way.... what are the general trends in Movement rather then the
little shuffles associated with little stuff like ruts.... you actually find
you won't over correct the car and get yourself into trouble....

Anyone that would loosen a Helmet to see is a FOOL.... sorry guys.... it's
my honest feeling's on that subject....

I have sat in Jack's car.... the optic's are exceptionally well done... But
I can see where a center line would aid him in maintaining his position on
the course.... I just don't feel the need for it in our car...
