When my Dad and I were racing karts in the 60's we did something similar. I
plopped into a frame work filled with sand and
assumed the position. We then glassed the seat to a frame and bolted the
whole deal to the chassis. We also included the gas tank into the seat back
so it was all one unit.
I found that I couldn't use body english to affect the handling with this
setup. Karts these days probably don't use driver enhanced handling like we
did.
