In reading the posts about gas classes I'm disturbed that two comments are
so misread. I don't accept the "cheating" scenario because it was used as
an example of possibilities, not of fact. Dave's comment that he would run
according to the rules satisfies me. Jon's question about spec gas was also
just that, a question. I think it was answered when the available fuel at
both events was to be supplied by an acceptable supplier. Whether this will
foil those who want to stretch rules to their advantage or not isn't an
issue as long as those who are competing are doing their individual best to
follow the rules. Anyone outside the rules can find all kinds of ways to
gain an advantage but all we can do is use the tools we have to check
compliance as best we can. Our testing equipment is good ... perhaps not
the very best or most expensive ... but we are on the salt and do the best
we can. IF THERE IS A PROBLEM we can always take samples and check them
with other contacts we have available. I for one would not want to be
caught cheating at a USFRA or SCTA/BNI event because it is such a small
community that everyone would soon hear about it. Protests are there for
that purpose too. You can always hear stories about who did what to cheat
in the past ... these are not secrets and it is not unheard to disqualify
someone if they are caught.

My wife is a teacher. She tells her second grade students to take care of
themselves and she will deal with others. A sanctioning body must function
the same way. That's why we have inspectors.
