Ed,  I agree. I posted the GM recomendations--if I remember correctly for every 
10 
over 230-235 you can expect at least a 10% drop in bearing life expectancy .wmts

Can't speak with absolute authority here, but, my friends at
the GM Tech Center got max HP on a LT-5 engine with oil temps
at 240, using Mobil One 10-30. Note: This is an all-aluminum
engine.
