Hi Folks, the subject of Flathead spark lead was covered pretty
thoroughly, but I just ran into a couple more tidbits from '50s lore,
and the Flatheads haven't changed.

Hot Rod Magazine, December '53, fine article by Jack Baldwin about Ed
Losinski's 2100 lb Model A roadster on '32 rails. Running 50% nitro in
a 304 inch four-carb Flathead, the car was timed at 136.98 mph at the
Santa Ana quarter mile. Losinski said he was running 21 degrees lead on
a H & C mag, which was two to three degrees more than others, but gave
him a better top end on the car. He gapped his spark plugs at .015".

Art Chrisman was helping him, and they "estimated" the nitro Flathead's
power output at 325 to 330.

This kind of power and performance in a Flathead roadster is, "NOT BAD".

Got another one for later. Bill
