About ten bucks at Wal-Mart, as I remember, is what I spent for a
locks-with-a-key type drawbar pin. It has a pretty "positive" locking snap
sound, so it's easy to hear when it becomes secure. It appears to be a
pretty sound physical connection, too. Mine shows no corrosion after a 4100
mile round trip to Bville earlier this month (if you leave it on the salt
(any metal part, actually) remember to put an aluminum pop can or such under
said metal parts to defer salt action on 'em). I think they come in both
1/2" and 5/8". Don't do the "small pin in a big hole" game - make sure
which you've go 'fore you go shopping.

Plus - it also can be used as a way to deter thieves. I pull the pin and
remove the thingie that goes into the receiver (the transmitter?) instead of
detaching the trailer at the ball. With the trailer locked onto the ball,
and a locked pin then put into the hole on the "transmitter" -- the bad guys
will have that much more reason to bypass your trailer and go to easier
prey.

Any recommendations on locking pins to prevent draw bar theft or trailer
loss?
