I can relate.  I was involved in European style Pro Rallying in the 70's and
there was an RX-3 that was just amazingly load.  You could hear that car
coming for miles, LONG before you could see it.

noisiest car
                ever.  Even noisier than the Varney-Walsh-Cusick #333 was at
that time.

                It was a relief at the starting line when he got out of it
beyond the timing
                traps.
