Jack taught me an amazing trick.  When I'd lay up something or make a 
patch, the surface would take
several days to get hard enough to sand without clogging to sand paper. 
 Jack explained to me that
that was because it was exposed to air and didn't cure properly. If the 
air is sealed out using scotch tape
or spraying with mold release wax it will cure properly and be just as 
hard as the side that was next to
the mold.
