Wes;

Way back in the sixties, Hot Rod Magazine published an article about
dropping a Corvair engine into a VW. The title was "Beans for Der Beetle"
and it started somewhat of a trend.

Don't know if any of you remember the California Bill, Chevrolet hop up
speed publications. He moved to Palo Alto, CA and ended up buying a Porsche
Speedster. Loved the car but hated the fact that it was so underpowered so
he removed the Porsche engine and installed a much modified Corvair
powerplant. A friend looked at it with the intention of buying it and took
me along for a ride. It rivaled the Corvettes of 1968 in acceleration and
we shut down a couple of Olds 442"s.
