About a year ago there was a discussion about roof rails. Someone said that
the handling was worse after they were added. Should they be absolutely
parallel to the axis of the car or converge/diverge? Does anybody have any
ideas on how to align those things?

Elon,

Don't know about the handling issue. Roof rails should have no effect on the
handling of the vehicle if installed properly. The rails run parallel to the X
axis, per the rule book they MUST be parallel to each other. When building
something that has parallel sides measure each end for the same dimension at
the ends, then cross measure the corner points to ensure that the structure is
square to itself.
