Lots of different types of antennas have been developed for high speed
aircraft and missiles but many wouldn't be very suitable for our
application. The short "blade" or "scimitar" antenna is aerodynamic and
won't be pushed out of shape by the airstream. "Skin patch" antennas are
suitable at very high frequencies, as are others.

Why not just use a horizontal antenna? Can't get pushed out of vertical if
it's horiz. to start. As long as the receive and xmit antennas are the same
the radio waves won't care.
