Last night I finished reading the old classic "Alf Francis- Racing Mechanic"
and that was certainly his credo.

So I spent some hours 10 days ago taking my rear out and dinking around with

sanding the id of that used spool so my nice new axles would slide in. After

considerable physical abuse to myself I got 'em in about as far as
necessary, but they were tight and it sucked and I called the nice old guy I

got the spool from and said "sorry, send me a new one this one sucks". So it

came today and sure enough the axles slide right in a sweet as pie.

Now Tuckee's gotta set the thing up again, and I gotta send the loser back
for credit, etc...but it's righteous now anywho.
I try to get by with used stuff where I can; I thought this inanimate object

was such a spot, but NOOOO......

Maybe its important to be intimately familiar with one's racecar....
