Yup, it's about ten miles from the office, on County Road 492. Going
westbound on this 55-mph-marked road there's a half-mile straight stretch
past the nunnery, followed by a gentle rise and sweeper to the left.
Straight, how many folks went in the olden days because they were going too
fast as they approached this aptly yclept "Dead Man's Curve" (The historic
landmark sign there says this is where that epiphet originated), drops off
and presents the fast-arriving vehicle with a bunch of maple and popple. I
ferget the date it reports -- will check it out next time, maybe get a photo
and post it on Jonathon's site.

It's melting out there -- but don't worry, winter's still around. Big ice
storm predicted for tomorrow evening.

"In 1917, the first center line on a rural highway was
painted on the road between Marquete and Ishpeming, Michigan"
