I don't know how many LSR folks check eBay for B'ville memorabilia, but I
wanted to speak up about a straight-to-video Hollywood hackjob of land speed
racing. Sure, there are a few name stars making a paycheck here, but the
dialogue alternates between clueless or cheesy-cute - like a seventh grader
might write. How many of you think it is important to have a disc jockey on
the race team? Whoever did the research dropped some of the right names and
facts in, but then blew it with references to Mach 3 speeds from a B-2 bomber
(a below Mach aircraft). The computer graphics of the cars look like Star Wars
meets General Dynamics, and the race sequences look fast - but then simulated
shake blurs out the vehicles, so why bother? Throw in a bit of unfulfilled
romance, a feeble sabotage attempt, and a stupid downhill scooter race to
complete the farce. Glad I got it dirt cheap. At least in "The Lively Set" you
could watch for real rods and racecars! This is Chris Pile (aka aircap)
reporting from the dumpster in the alley behind the Oscars..........see ya!
