Malcolm:
perhaps I would have asked "when is ACCUS going to.."-- if I had ever heard
of ACCUS. I suspect that they are even more irrelevant than FIA!

List

Just to be a little more helpful after yesterdays ouburst.

The FIA is at the pinnacle of the structure that is formed from a base of
representative motorsport organisations in most countries of the world
(hence the 'federation'). These National Governing bodies have agreed that
the FIA rules should be applied to the motorsport that they - or other
motor sport clubs affiliated to them - organise and control.

In the USA that group is ACCUS, here in the UK it is the MSA.

The question that Russell M perhaps should have asked is "when is ACCUS
going to organise an LSR meeting?".

The FIA allows and encourages each National body to organise an annual LSR
event for records up to 1 mile in timed distance - Appendix D Article 220
Para 5 & 6 refers. Therefore racers wishing to have FIA recognition (for
getting a record in 1 hour having travelled in both directions across the
one piece of groun) need to get ACCUS to arrange such a meeeting for all
competitors who are interested.

I was going to suggest that the SCTA/BNI assist them - but I do not know
where the two organisations 'fit' into the motor sport structure of the USA
to know if this is workable.

Perhaps Louise can find a little time to tell us about ACCUS...........or
can someone else help?
